MapSource™ is compatible with all GARMIN GPS systems except the GPS 100 family of products (GPS 100AVD, GPS 100MRN, GPS 100MIL, SRVY II) and panel mount aviation units. Trip and waypoint planning is possible for all other units; however, the map transfer feature is only compatible with the following GARMIN GPS units: GPS III+, 12MAP, NavTalk, GPSMAP 162, GPSMAP 168 Sounder, StreetPilot, StreetPilot ColorMap, StreetPilot III, GPS V, GPSMAP 295, eMap, eTrex Vista, and eTrex Legend, GPSMAP 76, GPSMAP 176, GPSMAP 176C, GPSMAP 182, GPSMAP 188 Sounder, GPSMAP 232, GPSMAP 238 Sounder, GPSMAP 2006, and GPSMAP 2010. When using a locked MapSource product, the real-time track plotting function will work only with a valid unlock code for the GPS unit being used.

MapSource software allows you to view color maps on a personal computer, with zoom and pan functions for easy map browsing. Use the trip and waypoint manager functions to create waypoints, routes, and tracks, and transfer them between your PC and nearly all GARMIN GPS units. This is excellent for planning your next outdoor adventure, business trip, vacation, or recreational outing without ever leaving your house.

For those units that accept the map transfer feature (see product list above), users can either download MapSource CD ROM content to data cards or directly to their units depending on the GPS product that they own. To download information directly to your GPS, simply connect your GARMIN GPS to your PC using a PC interface cable. Select the map areas on screen, and with the click of the mouse, the information downloads to your GPS. Some units require a GARMIN data card to download. GARMIN offers a variety of blank data cards, including an 8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB and 128MB. Choose the size that best fits your required coverage area.

Each MapSource product is sold separately, however, more than one product can be used and downloaded into a GARMIN-compatible unit.

System Requirements: Pentium processor with Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, or Windows ME; 16 MB RAM; 300 MB free hard disk space; CD-ROM drive; available serial port; 256 color display adapter and monitor (24 bit recommended); and mouse or other pointing device. Internet access is also recommended to make use of the unlock process.
